1960 Mt. Vernon Lodge
Circa February 1960 this building was built with the intention of being a clubhouse for a golf course. The developer then discovered that Stony Creek Metro-Park also had plans to build a clubhouse. To the dismay of the developer was birth of the Mt. Vernon Lodge; a hideaway well off the beaten path on a dirt road where the locals would ride their horses and tie them up on the side of the building. This was the humble beginning of a tradition of good times and great food in a comfortable setting.
1983 Lion’s Den Pub
Years later, Mr. and Mrs. Niemen bought the business and changed the name to Lion’s Den Pub. The sports-themed décor was filled with classic football memorabilia. Mr. and Mrs. Niemen also owned and operated the extremely successful Lion’s Den Pub in Waterford, Michigan. They later sold the Shelby Township location to Bob and Anita McRae.
1992 Stony Creek Roadhouse
The McRae's transformed the pub into a family-friendly neighborhood grill and bar; Stony Creek Roadhouse. The cozy lodge environment brings a unique dining experience to Shelby Township.
